This course encompasses the study of eating as it affects the health and well-being of every human. Topics include taste preferences, food aversions, the regulation of hunger and satiety, food as comfort and friendship, eating as social ritual, and social norms of blame for food problems. The politics of food discusses issues such as sustainable agriculture, organic farming, genetically modified foods, nutrition policy, and the influence of food and agriculture industries. Also examined are problems such as malnutrition, eating disorders, and the global obesity epidemic; the impact of food advertising aimed at children; poverty and food; and how each individual’s eating is affected by the modern environment.

「已讀不回」這種沒有確實訊息的回應也許令人感到不安、焦慮，甚至造成恐懼。但究竟為何會懼怕沉默？社會規範如何令人對沉默產生負面感覺？ 　　《學人串社科》這集會以社會學、心理學和人類行為學為基礎，多角度詮釋沉默背後的意義，將大量被隱藏的訊息解碼，重新認識沉默。當沉默原來也是一種積極性回應外，在宗教及心理層面更有著相當的重要性。 　　相比起七八十年代，網絡時代的我們，每個人在看不同的東西，對於今期流行什麼，也有自己的看法。面對分眾的時代，評論流行文化時，又是怎樣選擇合適的題材呢？在不同的流行文化下，觀眾、粉絲的行動又有什麼啟示？香港一直都受到日本、韓國，甚至近年中國大陸等不同文化影響，現今的香港文化又能否影響其他國家的文化呢？又或者在全球化下，各種文化交互影響，到底還有沒有一種叫做「香港的流行文化」存在呢？ 　　今集《學人串社科》—今期流行，邀請了大學講師陳嘉銘和流行文化評論人阿果，與主持一起討論大談電影、音樂、電影、廣告、偶像團體云云，重新審視流行文化與社會的關係。

格格巫　　《西方毕竟是西方》（West Is West ）可以看作是《东方就是东方》（East Is East ，1999）的续集，虽然导演换了，但故事依然一脉相承，仍旧是通过生活在英国的巴基斯坦家庭——可汗一家家庭成员的内部矛盾，来反应东西方文化的差异和冲突。上一部的故事发生在1971年，这部的故事发生在1975年，可汗一家从索尔弗徳市搬到了英格兰北部的曼彻斯特，这部的故事主要集中在父亲——60岁的乔治·可汗和最小的儿子——15岁的Sajid身上。Sajid深受父亲的巴基斯坦传统专制和学校混混欺压两重压迫，有成为问题少年的倾向，乔治无奈，决定把他送到生活在巴基斯坦旁遮普的前妻身边，而他抛下前妻已经30多年了……
